Mira, the leading hormonal health company, announces a partnership with global soccer star Ali Riley, who plays for Angel City FC and New Zealand Women’s National Team. The collaboration aims to support women as they navigate major life transitions, such as family planning and motherhood, peri and menopause, fertility treatments, by encouraging open conversations around hormone health and expanding access to personalized, at-home care.
As Riley rehabs what could be a career-ending injury, she’s opening up about the emotional and physical toll of IVF — and the role hormone tracking played in giving her back a sense of agency.
Riley began monitoring her hormone levels with Mira unsure if motherhood was even possible for her . “So many parts of my life this year have felt up in the air, with a lot of uncertainty, but Mira gave me a routine. It gave me concrete information to rely on. Having this resource was powerful — the one thing I knew I wanted, when I wasn’t able to play soccer or spend time with my team, was to do something for my future. And that was to have the option of having a baby.”
Eventually, she decided to pursue IVF and continued using Mira throughout her cycle. “I felt like I had a roadmap in front of me,” she said. “When I saw that I was still in a late reproductive phase, I felt a sense of hope. And being able to track my levels at home during IVF gave me peace of mind between doctor’s appointments — I wasn’t left wondering what was happening inside my body.”
Mira’s technology offers lab-quality hormone tracking from home — a breakthrough for those undergoing fertility treatments. It’s the first at-home hormone monitor validated for fertility treatments, offering clinical-grade accuracy with real-world convenience. One study found that tracking urine E3G with Mira showed a similar correlation to the number of eggs retrieved during IVF as standard blood-based estradiol testing. These early findings suggest that at-home hormone monitoring could play a meaningful role in improving both the patient experience and the overall delivery of fertility care — particularly for those navigating treatment in high-pressure or time-sensitive phases of life.
“Ali’s story is a powerful reminder that knowledge is the foundation of confidence,” said Sylvia Kang, CEO and Co-Founder of Mira. “We’re proud to support her journey and to continue delivering science-backed tools that empower women to understand their bodies at every stage.”
Through this partnership, Mira and Ali Riley aim to raise awareness around the emotional and physical realities of fertility treatment, while also redefining what support can look like for women navigating life’s biggest transitions. Riley hopes that by sharing her story, she can empower others to feel less alone — whether they’re managing IVF, stepping away from a career, or simply trying to better understand their hormonal health.
Riley’s experience also shines a light on the systemic gaps in professional sports, where reproductive health is rarely addressed. “Most research in sports medicine is based on men’s bodies,” she explains. “There’s a huge lack of education when it comes to fertility, IVF, even menstrual cycles — it’s still taboo in many teams.”
For most female athletes, fertility preservation or IVF can only happen during the offseason, and often without much institutional support. “There are so many decisions we’re forced to make without the right information or resources,” said Riley. “I was lucky to have access to Mira and a strong support system, but so many of my colleagues are flying blind. That has to change.”
To help bridge this gap, Mira is offering to donate hormone-tracking kits to football clubs interested in providing their athletes with better fertility and hormonal health resources.
Together, Mira and Riley are calling for more transparency, more access, and more compassion in women’s health — helping women everywhere feel seen, supported, and informed, no matter what stage of life they’re in.
