Sword Health, a digital health company focused on musculoskeletal care, has acquired Kaia Health in a deal valued at $285 million. The acquisition expands Sword’s reach in the United States and establishes a foothold in Germany’s digital health market.
Kaia Health is a digital health company focused on musculoskeletal and pulmonary care. Following the acquisition, Sword will replace Kaia’s MSK solution in the US market, with Kaia’s American members gaining access to Sword’s platform.
In Germany, Kaia Health’s solution is available through the country’s digital health reimbursement pathway, which covers more than 70 million people. Sword will build on Kaia’s established foundation in Europe’s largest healthcare system.
“This acquisition will accelerate our already rapid growth in the United States while also opening Germany as a major new market, in our mission of democratizing, through AI, access to high-quality care all over the world,” said Virgilio Bento, Founder and CEO of Sword Health. “We’re excited to work with Kaia’s clients and partners, further expanding our presence in the U.S. market.”
Sword entered the women’s health market in 2022 with the launch of Bloom, a sensor-based pelvic health solution that combines at-home physical therapy with guidance from pelvic health specialists.
