Dr. Erin Nance, an orthopedic surgeon with a decade of private practice experience, is addressing a critical gap in health communication with FeelBetr, a new digital platform launching in June 2025. The platform aims to connect medical experts with patients seeking credible health information, particularly focusing on women with chronic conditions.
The path to founding FeelBetr began during the COVID-19 pandemic when Nance developed long COVID and reduced her surgical hours. “I recognized an opportunity to share medical knowledge beyond the limitations of individual patient consultations,” she explains. Her initial foray into health education on TikTok quickly gained traction, amassing 700,000 followers within a year and generating over 150 million views.
A pivotal moment came when Nance received a message from a woman suffering from severe fingernail pain for ten years. Through their exchange, Nance suggested specific diagnostic steps that led to the identification of a glomus tumor – a condition that had previously gone unrecognized despite multiple medical consultations. This experience highlighted women’s struggle to obtain proper diagnoses and the limitations of existing social platforms for health communication.
“On traditional social media, a physician’s educational content about hypothyroidism might reach 200 random viewers,” Nance explains. “But on FeelBetr, that same content will reach 200 people specifically interested in thyroid health – making the impact far more meaningful.”
FeelBetr’s proprietary algorithm matches users with content based on their specific health conditions rather than popularity metrics. Content creation is limited to verified healthcare professionals, health foundations, advocacy groups, and vetted healthcare startups. The platform currently has a waitlist of 200 content creators, including individual physicians, medical groups, health technology companies, and patient advocacy organizations.
The system preserves medical credibility while enabling community engagement through moderated comments and discussions. Currently in development with backing from its initial investors (who also serve as the development team), FeelBetr will launch its pilot program in June 2025 at the Oley Foundation conference. The initial cohort will include 1,000 members from the feeding tube community, with plans to expand to other chronic health conditions. The platform has already accumulated a waitlist of 7,000 potential users.
“We’re creating an ecosystem where medical expertise meets patient needs in an accessible format,” Nance notes. The platform will be free to join for users with industry partners sponsoring the educational content. (basic services free to everyone, with premium features available through subscription).
FeelBetr is developing partnerships with diagnostic companies, pharmaceutical and life sciences companies, and wellness brands to create a comprehensive health information ecosystem. The platform will feature integration capabilities allowing creators to efficiently repurpose longer-form content into shorter, platform-optimized segments.
“Traditional social media wasn’t designed for sharing health information,” Nance observes. “We’re building a space where medical professionals can extend their expertise beyond office visits while maintaining the integrity of their message.” In a time where censorship, especially in the FemTech community, is one of the biggest challenges for female-centric brands on social media, having a platform created specifically for sharing health information sets it apart from any current social media platform.
For a field where misinformation can have serious consequences, FeelBetr represents a structured attempt to bridge the gap between medical expertise and patient access to information. The platform’s features, such as time-agnostic content surfacing – meaning valuable medical information remains discoverable regardless of posting date – aim to create a more sustainable model for health communication at a time when both healthcare providers and patients are seeking more reliable ways to connect in the digital space.
