Freyya has secured an undisclosed, oversubscribed pre-seed round led by existing backer Alamo Angels to bring its continuous pelvic floor monitoring device to market.
Founded in 2023, Freyya’s tampon-inspired device uses biosensors to continuously monitor intra-abdominal pressure and pelvic floor muscle force, providing data on overall function, symptoms, and treatment plans.
“Freyya has the potential to transform what we understand about the pelvic floor and intra-abdominal pressure, and to turn that information into data-backed plans for women recovering after childbirth, injury, or hormonal changes,” said Lara August, Freyya Board Member, entrepreneur, and angel investor.
With one in four women experiencing pelvic floor dysfunction in their lifetime, related healthcare costs exceed $20 billion annually. To create an accessible solution, Freyya completed its clinical study at the University of Utah, finding its device “demonstrated outstanding comfort, retention, and precision biomechanical insights during diverse activities,” per CEO and Co-Founder Dr. Gabriele Niederauer.
With positive findings, Freyya’s latest funding will support regulatory approvals to commercialize the device nationwide.
“This financing gives Freyya the resources to stay focused on the milestones that matter most: completing our FDA submission, advancing through the regulatory process, and preparing for commercialization,” said Niederauer.
