Menstrual care brand Viv has secured $2 million, bringing total funding to $3.3 million, from angel investors to scale its new patented Cottonlock Tampon and expand nationwide.
Founded by Katie Diasti and Anna Sise, Viv targets Gen Z consumers with toxin-free tampons and pads, menstrual cups, and other menstrual health products.
Viv’s newest launch, the Cottonlock Tampon, uses a patented cotton veil designed to prevent fiber residue from being left behind during insertion and removal.
“Katie and Anna have built more than a period care brand,” said Viv investor Shelly Berkowitz of Next Phase Capital. “They’ve built an education-first movement that puts women’s health and wellbeing first, with sustainable, toxin-free products to match.”
The innovation builds on UC Berkeley findings of arsenic and lead in tampons. While many brands addressed these issues with 100% cotton offerings, Viv’s says Cottonlock prevents residue altogether, to minimize potential disruption to the vaginal microbiome.
“When we saw the research revealing how harmful fibers are left behind from tampons – even premium organic ones – we had to find a solution to continue offering women products that would support their health – no exceptions,” said Diasti.
The latest funding also will support nationwide expansion into all 526 Whole Foods locations, where it will offer 11 menstrual health SKUs.
