Poppy Seed Health’s Pre-Seed Round and the Rise of Culturally Competent Care

Culturally competent care is picking up steam and $$$. Yep, we shared the news of Poppy Seed Health’s latest round last week, but the company isn’t the only one building in this space. Other examples of other (U.S. based) companies working on better care and access for underserved populations: Cayaba Care, Health In Her Hue, HUED, Mae or Folx.

Are Period Panties Mainstream Yet? 

Adidas announced a new line of period-friendly apparel last week. And they are not the only ones starting to pay attention to cycle care. Last February Nike addressed the power of the menstrual cycle in a joint campaign with About You and Japanese fashion retailer Uniqlo just added period underwear to its collection.

How Real-time Health Data Drives Innovation Opportunities (PitchBook)

PitchBook released a new analyst note about real world evidence: “The proliferation of mobile health apps, biometric trackers and remote patient monitoring devices have given rise to large quantities of healthcare data. When structured and analyzed, this data can provide real-world evidence that could be used across the entire healthcare ecosystem, including in clinical trials, evaluating treatment outcomes and post-care safety monitoring.”

Vocal Biomarkers (MobiHealthNews)

Kintsugi, a platform that uses vocal biomarkers to help identify conditions like anxiety and depression, wrapped up its seed-funding round, raising a total of $8 million. The company says its voice biomarker technology can use 20 seconds of freeform speech to pick up on anxiety and clinical depression.
