Women’s health technology company Elvie announced the launch of Elvie Rise, a smart bouncer that converts into a bassinet.

According to an Elvie study of 1,413 US mothers with children under age 2, 67% of babies aged 0-3 months routinely sleep in products not deemed safe for sleep. The Elvie Rise aims to address this by providing a product that meets the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)’s sleep safe guidelines in bassinet mode, with a firm, flat mattress, breathable fabrics, and retractable straps.

The product features SootheLoop technology that records and repeats bouncing patterns input by caregivers. It can also be used as a manual bouncer. Users can control the automated bouncing and track sleep patterns through the Elvie Rise Sleep & Soothe app.

The device is collapsible for transport and uses magnetic contact charging for cordless operation. In bouncer mode, it is designed for use from newborn to 6 months (2.5kg/5.5lbs to 9kg/20lbs) or until the baby can sit up unaided. Bassinet mode specifications are from newborn to 5 months (2.5kg/5.5lbs to 10kg/22lbs) or until the baby can roll or push up on hands and knees.

“We’ve spoken to hundreds of postpartum parents and, after feeding, the next big stress was baby soothing and sleep,” said Alex Knox, Chief Product Officer at Elvie. “Elvie Rise gives all parents and caregivers the opportunity to have some hands-free, guilt free time back for themselves – knowing that their baby is safe and sound.”
