Sprout Family Raises CAD $3.55M to Expand Family-Building Benefits

Sprout Family

Sprout Family has secured CAD $3.55 million in an oversubscribed seed round to expand its family-building benefits platform beyond fertility across Canada. The round was led by BDC Thrive Venture Fund, with participation from Accelia Capital, MaRS Investment Accelerator Fund, StandUp Ventures, and The51.

Founded by Jackie Hanson and Suzanne Mason, Sprout launched to streamline family-building benefits, starting with fertility. The company works with insurers, advisors, and employers, including Wealthsimple, EllisDon, and Lazer Technologies.

With fragmented benefits across fertility, pregnancy, and postpartum, many struggle to access care such as IVF. Gaps in parental leave and return-to-work policies can also contribute to talent loss. In response to employer feedback, Sprout’s latest funding will fuel its expansion into continuous family-building benefits, including pregnancy, postpartum, parental leave, and return-to-work support.

“Family-building isn’t only a women’s health issue; it’s a human one, and employers are starting to build benefits that reflect that,” said Jackie Hanson, Co-Founder and CEO of Sprout Family. “In five years, every meaningful family moment – the first egg retrieval, the adoption match call, the parental leave plan that actually works, the return to a career that’s still there – will run on Sprout.”
