Supporting women has always been central to Alfa Charlie’s mission. Founded by Reva Green and Kimberly Gilroy, this women-owned creative agency is dedicated to championing women-centered and environmental causes through purposeful design. Over the years, Alfa Charlie has worked with organizations that share its values, using its expertise in branding, web design, and graphic design to elevate the voices of their clients and inspire meaningful change. To extend this commitment, Alfa Charlie has launched the WomanKind Grant, a 3-month partnership with nonprofits and start-ups in women’s health to help them leverage design to create a real impact in their communities.

Why Design Matters for Women’s Health Organizations

In today’s competitive landscape, the success of any organization—especially in sectors as critical as women’s health—depends not only on the strength of its mission but also on how effectively it is communicated. A strong visual identity can amplify a brand’s message, build trust, and engage its audience. For nonprofits and start-ups in women’s health, this can result in more successful advocacy and broader outreach.

Alfa Charlie has witnessed firsthand how purpose-driven design can transform organizations. They’ve had the opportunity to brand San Diego’s first postpartum retreat, Post Pamper, and support the global expansion of Rewriting the Code, a nonprofit empowering women in tech. Through design, Alfa Charlie helps organizations tell their stories, communicate their values, and stand out in a crowded marketplace. The WomanKind Grant will bring this expertise to the women’s health sector, where it’s needed most.

About the WomanKind Grant

The WomanKind Grant offers a unique opportunity for nonprofits and start-ups to partner with Alfa Charlie in a 3-month design collaboration valued at $30,000. This partnership will provide organizations with a strategic and comprehensive visual brand identity to give women’s health innovators the creative support they need to grow.

The grant includes:

  • Brand Navigation Workshop – A 6-hour strategy workshop that includes core values, target audience persona, competitor analysis, unique strengths/differentiators, and brand personality.
  • Visual Brand Identity – This includes a mood board, logo design, color palette, font suggestions, additional visual elements, and a Brand Compass Book.
  • Collateral – We’ll spend 1 month building out any design assets needed so that your brand can start to take shape and feel cohesive across different channels.
  • Quarterly Check-Ins – (3) additional consultations to evaluate how the branding is going, provide feedback and recommendations, and answer any questions that may come up.

Why Women’s Health?

Alfa Charlie’s decision to focus the WomanKind Grant on women’s health is both personal and driven by the pressing challenges in this field. From the lack of inclusive health research to the need for stronger advocacy, women’s health is an area in urgent need of attention and change.

As women, Green and Gilroy have experienced these challenges firsthand, which drives their commitment to making a difference through their work. Society is beginning to recognize that women have long been overlooked in crucial areas like health research and product design. This moment offers a unique opportunity to address these gaps by using design to inform, empower, and advocate for better solutions.

Through the WomanKind Grant, Alfa Charlie aims to support organizations working to address these issues, equipping them with the design tools needed to increase visibility, strengthen advocacy, and help build a more equitable future for women.
