Simplyhealth has become the first health plan in the UK provider to launch a specialized virtual GP service focused on women’s health, available to all policyholders at no additional cost through their SimplyPlan app and customer portal.
The initiative responds to compelling research showing that women face disproportionate health challenges, spending 25% more of their lives in debilitating health compared to men. More concerning is that 84% of women report not being taken seriously by healthcare professionals when first presenting symptoms.
The service aims to address critical workplace issues, as research from Simplyhealth revealed that 23% of women have considered leaving their jobs due to menopause or menstrual symptoms, with 14% actively planning to resign. This new offering complements Simplyhealth’s existing women’s health services, including discounted mammograms for those over 40 and at-home hormone testing kits.
“96 percent of women told us they’d prefer seeing a women’s health-focused GP for future concerns,” says Dr. Macarena Staudenmaier Keglevich, Simplyhealth’s head of clinical product and operations. “By connecting women with expert GPs faster, we’re helping them get the answers, care, and support they need without the long waits.”
