Samphire Neuroscience has officially launched Nettle, the first CE-certified brain device designed to address both mental and physical symptoms associated with menstruation.
The device uses transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS) technology to support brain areas linked to mood and pain regulation. It is worn like a headband for 20 minutes daily, typically during the five days preceding menstruation.
According to the company, Nettle has already sold out twice during its pre-launch phase, with primary demand coming from individuals living with premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD), endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), and chronic pelvic pain. As part of the CE certification process, Samphire demonstrated evidence of the device’s impact on improving mood, reducing pain, and enhancing daily functioning within a single month of use.
The company reports that early users have shared positive feedback, with independent reviewers on Trustpilot noting improvements in symptoms without side effects. Common themes in user reviews include relief from extreme anxiety and depression during the luteal phase and ease of incorporating the device into daily routines.
Samphire Neuroscience, founded in 2021, is focused on neuromodulation for women’s health, combining neuroscience expertise with clinical collaborations and input from patients and practitioners. The company states that globally, more than 190 million people live with chronic menstrual conditions, many without adequate treatment options. Nettle is positioned as a non-hormonal solution that does not interact with pre-existing medications.
The device is now available for purchase through the company’s website with a 90-day returns guarantee. Samphire also plans to distribute Nettle through selected partner clinics and pilot programs, including some in partnership with NHS-affiliated care centers across the UK.
