New York-based Recharge Capital, a thematic-first private investment firm, has successfully closed the first tranche of its $200M Women’s Healthcare Investment Vehicle. The fund is backed by Thiel Capital, The Olayan Family of the Olayan Group, Blue Lion Group, The Al Rashid Family of the Salmira Investment Fund, Shamrock Holdings of the Disney Family, the Ozmen Family of the Sierra Nevada Corporation, Ian Osborne of Hedosophia, Frank Liu of Texas-based Lovett, and other renowned investment groups.

This first tranche closure takes a novel private equity structure to align investors with a milestone-driven deployment schedule rather than the typical capital call model, and presents clear multi-year execution plans. The Sector Integration Vehicle will serve to optimize thematic-based investments and set the stage for growth in the women’s healthcare industry.

Recharge Capital plans to invest in and consolidate an end-to-end ecosystem within the women’s fertility value chain, with a geographical focus on Southeast Asia, Latin America, Europe, and the Middle East. Key areas of interest include international fertility medical tourism, menstrual wellness, and women’s disease prevention. By integrating breakthrough technologies, diagnostic solutions, and digital platforms, Recharge Capital seeks to enhance patient experiences and bring disruption to the underserved sector.

Lorin Gu, Founding Partner of Recharge Capital, stated: “Within our thematic-first investment framework, women’s healthcare offers significant growth potential and the opportunity for positive societal impact. With our strategic partners and a team of expert investors, we aim to lead the charge in global women’s healthcare and fertility through an innovative investment and operating structure that cultivates effective value creation.”

Recharge Capital’s new initiative comes at a timely moment, addressing the pressing fertility challenges faced by society. The fund aims to eliminate existing bottlenecks in women’s healthcare and fertility services across key international markets.

Earlier this month, Recharge Capital announced the launch of Generation Prime, a network of IVF clinics in Southeast Asia. Its other portfolio companies in the women’s and reproductive health space include supplement brands Elix (hormonal health), and Care/of (vitamins), CBD brand Feals, AI-driven IVF software company Embryonics, and Fertilidad Integral, a fertility care company based in Mexico.

In addition to women’s healthcare, Recharge Capital is also active in fintech democratization, digital assets, and semiconductor enablement.
