WPS, a US-based health solutions company with over 80 years in health insurance, has acquired Mavida Health, a digital mental health platform providing specialized therapy and psychiatry for women navigating reproductive life transitions.
Founded in 2023 by reproductive psychiatrist Dr. Sarah Oreck and health tech leader Emma Sugerman, Mavida delivers mental health support for women managing PMOS, PMDD, fertility challenges, pregnancy, pregnancy loss, postpartum depression and anxiety, and perimenopause and menopause. The platform offers individual, group, and couples therapy alongside medication management, currently available virtually in California, New York, New Jersey, and Texas, with expansion planned.
“Women’s mental health is inextricably tied to their hormones, and yet for too long, that connection has been dismissed or ignored,” said Dr. Oreck. “From PMDD to fertility struggles, pregnancy, postpartum depression and anxiety, and perimenopause, women face distinct neurobiological challenges at every stage of their reproductive lives. Joining WPS gives us the scale to reach more women and families.”
Mavida will continue operating independently with its own leadership. The acquisition is part of WPS’s broader revenue diversification strategy, described as the first in a series of targeted investments the organization is evaluating.
The deal signals continued payer interest in women’s health as a strategic acquisition category – joining Delta Dental’s Midi Health partnership and Securian Canada’s June Health investment as recent examples of insurance companies recognizing women’s health as core to their business.
