Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) has announced a significant $1.2M grant to establish the first March of Dimes Mom & Baby Mobile Health Center in Texas. Targeted to launch by fall 2024, this Houston-based initiative marks a major effort to improve maternal and infant health outcomes statewide. The mobile health center will partner with clinical providers to offer crucial on-the-ground maternal programs. These services will encompass pre-conception, pregnancy, postpartum, and newborn care, aiming to mitigate the healthcare access gaps many Texas women and children face.

Texas has seen concerning statistics regarding maternal and infant healthcare, with 20.4% of birthing individuals in the state receiving inadequate or no prenatal care. This initiative stands as a vital step towards changing these numbers, providing comprehensive healthcare and support services directly in communities.

Beyond healthcare, the Mobile Health Center is designed to offer a range of supportive services, including housing and nutrition assistance, ensuring a holistic approach to the well-being of mothers and newborns.
