Amazon One Medical has introduced dedicated perimenopause and menopause visits across its network, following a 10-month pilot program that saw over 1,000 patients.
During the pilot in Los Angeles and the San Francisco Bay Area beginning in 2024, 30% of patients reported increased confidence navigating the transition after one visit, and 75% began treatment plans including hormone therapy, according to the company.
Approximately 2 million women enter perimenopause and 1.3 million enter menopause annually across the United States. Research shows 85% of women experience at least one bothersome menopause symptom, yet most remain untreated.
The program trains primary care providers to address symptoms including hot flashes, sleep problems, mood changes, fatigue, and irregular periods within the existing patient-provider relationship. Providers consider how hormonal changes affect cardiovascular health, bone density, and mental wellbeing. menopause program leader.
Treatment options include hormone therapy, lifestyle management, and non-hormonal medications targeting specific symptoms. The service offers hormone testing when appropriate and personalized treatment plans.
The visits are available in all One Medical regions across the United States. Members can schedule appointments through the One Medical app by selecting the perimenopause or menopause visit option. The service accepts most major insurance plans, and membership is not required to book appointments.
