Alba Health, a Swedish-Danish startup, has raised $2.5 million in seed funding to expand its digital microbiome testing and personalized nutrition platform for children aged 0-12.

The round was led by Unconventional Ventures, with participation from Exceptional Ventures and existing investors including Voima Ventures and Oura co-founder Petteri Lahtela.

Founded in 2022 by Eleonora Cavani and Professor Willem M. de Vos, Alba Health combines research-grade microbiome analysis with AI-driven insights to provide customized gut health solutions. The platform addresses significant childhood health challenges, with studies showing over 50% of babies experience gut symptoms and one-third of school-aged children have allergic conditions.

Alba Health’s platform offers comprehensive gut health analysis using metagenomics to identify bacterial imbalances affecting digestion, metabolism, and immune system development. Parents receive customized nutrition plans, dietary guidance, and access to certified nutrition coaches.

The company has demonstrated strong growth, expanding 30% month-on-month since launching six months ago, with over one-third of growth from word-of-mouth referrals. Alba Health has also launched its PREVENT Study, tracking microbiome development in over 300 Swedish families.

The funding will support commercial growth, digital tool development, and expansion into new clinical applications.
