Three organizations have recently opened applications for grants totaling over $1.3 million to support women’s health research, reproductive medicine projects, and AI-driven solutions addressing challenges faced by women globally.

American Heart Association: $1M for Women’s Health Research

The American Heart Association has opened applications for its Redefining Women’s Health: From Heart to Head to Hormones program, offering up to $1 million to fund up to 10 investigators or investigative teams. Individual awards provide $100,000 for one-year projects focused on conditions that disproportionately or exclusively impact women.

The program targets four priority areas: ischemia with non-obstructive coronary arteries and cardiovascular microvascular disease, autoimmune disease screening and care models, next-generation treatments for endometriosis, and classification and care models for heavy menstrual bleeding.

Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death in women, yet up to 50% of women who present with angina or signs of coronary artery disease have no obstructive lesions on angiography, according to the program. This group represents an estimated 3-4 million women in the US.

Applications are open to researchers, clinicians, entrepreneurs, and innovators at US-based nonprofit institutions. Pre-proposals are due January 6, 2026, with selected applicants invited to submit full proposals by April 14, 2026. Awards will be announced in June 2026 with funding starting July 1, 2026.

During the one-year award period, Studio Red will provide support on intellectual property, regulatory strategy, reimbursement and commercialization strategies, fundraising, and pitch development through monthly webinar sessions. At the conclusion of the award period, 1-2 awardees may be selected for advancement in Studio Red incubation, with support for early company formation.

Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, DO, DVM, DDS, DNP, or equivalent post-baccalaureate doctoral degree and be American Heart Association Professional Members at the time of pre-proposal submission.
