Pelva Health, a medtech startup focused on addressing vulvovaginal pain during intimacy, has secured $500,000 in pre-seed funding. The round was led by Groove Capital with participation from DLH Investments (Doug Hickey), as well as healthcare professionals Tracy Sher, PT, DPT, CSCS, and Michele Hodges, LAMFT, among other investors.

Founded by Kelley and Doug Satoski, Pelva Health aims to develop innovative solutions for women experiencing chronic pain during intimate activities. According to the company, approximately 75% of women will experience vulvovaginal pain with sexual activity at some point, while 28% suffer from chronic conditions, often spending 2-7 years without finding effective relief.

The company was born from co-founder Kelley Satoski’s personal experience with persistent vulvovaginal pain, specifically provoked vestibulodynia and vaginismus/GPPPD (Genito-Pelvic Pain/Penetration Disorder). After three years of treatment with limited improvement, her husband Doug committed to developing a better solution to address these challenges.

“Chronic pain is awful. And when it affects your ability to be intimate with the person you love most (often for years!) – it is absolutely devastating – mentally and physically for both partners,” stated Kelley Satoski, Co-Founder and CEO of Pelva Health.

The startup emphasizes that over 66% of women with these conditions report significant relationship strain and mental health distress. Pelva Health is developing solutions designed for discreetness, immediate results, and mutual partner pleasure.

The funding will support Pelva Health’s product development and go-to-market strategy as they work toward a commercial launch. The company is currently building a waitlist for those interested in product launch and testing updates.

“We see you. We are you. A new solution is coming,” Satoski shared in her announcement to the estimated 39 million women and couples affected by vulvovaginal pain during intimacy.
