Serena Ventures, the VC firm co-founded by tennis star Serena Williams, has raised $111M to invest in early stage ventures. The fund already manages a portfolio of over 60 angel investments which it has made over the past 9 years. Successes include 13 unicorns and 6 exits. Investors in the fund include Norwest, Capital G, Kapor Foundation, Liontree and 23andMe’s Anne Wojcicki. Alison Rapaport, who has previously worked at J.P. Morgan, Wasserman and Melo7Tech Ventures, leads Serena Ventures along with Williams.
Serena Ventures has made numerous investments in women’s health companies to date. Relevant portfolio companies include HUED, a digital health company offering culturally competent care (Fund 1), hair removal & skin care DTC Billie (Angel), women’s health care startup Kiira Health (Angel), maternal health company Mahmee (Angel), women’s health DTC e-commerce company LOLA (Angel) and pelvic health startup Every Mother (Angel).
