Essity has entered an agreement to acquire Kenvue’s feminine care business in Brazil for $284 million.
Expanding its femcare portfolio, Swedish health and hygiene company Essity will take ownership of profitable period care brands Carefree, Sempre Livre, and o.b. – which together exceeded BRL 800 million (~$154 million) in net sales over a one-year period – alongside related manufacturing operations.
The deal adds to Essity’s existing portfolio of Libresse, Bodyform, Nana, Saba, Libra, and Nosotras, as well as Carefree, Stayfree, and o.b. businesses in North American, which Essity acquired from Edgewell Personal Care in February for $340 million.
“With this acquisition, we establish a strong position in feminine care in Brazil, and it marks another step in our strategy to grow in our most value-creating categories,” said Essity CEO and president Ulrika Kolsrud. “Brazil [the fourth-largest feminine care market] represents a significant growth opportunity in hygiene and health, where we already hold a leading position in incontinence products.”
The transaction is expected to close by the second quarter of 2027, following regulatory approval in Brazil and the completion of Kimberly-Clark Corporation’s $48.7 billion acquisition of Kenvue.
