San Diego-based Lips, an alternative social media and soon-to-be social commerce platform built by and especially for women, non-binary folks, and the LGBTQIA+ community, launches its public beta today. The idea behind Lips is to create safe space online for users to express themselves openly and honestly without biased censorship or harassment.

Lips was built together with artists, brands, sex workers, BIPOC, and the LGBTQIA+ community, and plans to focus on marginalized voices and experiences in the app’s design as it grows.
