Newly launched German startup wexxeljahre wants to make it easier for women to find a provider to support them in their journey through menopause. On their website the company now lists providers recommended by its users, offers webinars and educational content around the menopause.

wexxeljahre Founder Anke Sinningen explains: “It is unfortunately still the case that many doctors know far too little about the influence of hormones after the reproductive period and are unable to give their patients good advice – and this despite the fact that hormones have a significant influence on the state of women’s health even after the age of 50. This is an omission in medical research, but also in the training of physicians.”

She continues: “Menopause is a crucial phase in a woman’s life, when the course is set for her health in old age. The hormone deficiency not only has consequences for fertility, but also for a woman’s entire body. For example, the risk of cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis or dementia increases significantly after menopause. This is why it is so important that women receive competent advice during this time. In addition, the average life expectancy of women in Germany is currently 84 years: This means that women spend more than a third of their lives after menopause.”

wexxeljahre was founded in Hamburg, Germany in 2021 by Anke Sinnigen with a mission to empower women to take their menopausal health into their own hands.
