Apricity, a virtual fertility clinic in the UK, has announced it will cease all operations effective January 1, 2025. The closure affects all services, including appointments, consultations, tests, and treatments.

The announcement comes after four years of operation since the company’s launch in 2018. In response to the closure, Apricity is working with partner IVF clinics to ensure treatment continuity for current patients. The company has confirmed that patients will either be able to continue their paid treatments at a partner clinic or receive refunds. Additionally, the safe storage of frozen eggs, sperm, and embryos will be maintained through their partner IVF clinics.

The closure comes less than two years after the company secured €17 million in Series B funding in September 2022. That round was led by Swiss healthtech fund MTIP, with participation from Spanish consumer fund Iris Ventures. The funding had been intended to support Apricity’s expansion into European markets including Spain, Germany, and Italy. Earlier that year, the company had acquired Spanish period-tracking app Woom as part of its growth strategy.

To support patients during this transition, leading fertility charities, The Fertility Alliance, and Fertility Network UK, are offering additional support services.
