Vida Health, a virtual cardiometabolic care provider, has partnered with Instacart to give members category-specific grocery stipends through Instacart Health’s Fresh Funds technology – connecting clinical nutrition guidance directly to food purchasing.
The partnership is designed to close the gap between nutrition advice and actual food access, particularly for members in food deserts, rural communities, and underserved areas. Instacart reaches more than 98% of U.S. households, including 95% of low-income and low-access areas. Vida’s registered dietitians develop culturally sensitive meal plans across more than 25 cultural and ethnic backgrounds, accounting for budget and local store availability.
“Building healthier habits takes more than information; it requires thoughtful, culturally relevant guidance and access to good food,” said Amy Mushlin, chief clinical and member service officer at Vida Health. “By partnering with Instacart, the guidance dietitians and coaches provide is now more immediately actionable for members to purchase groceries.”
Vida’s multidisciplinary team includes obesity medicine-certified physicians, registered dietitians, licensed therapists, and coaches, delivering care in English and Spanish across all 50 states. The company operates on a value-based pricing model centered on measurable health outcomes across obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and related conditions.
Future phases will make Vida’s dietitian-developed meal plans directly shoppable through Instacart and explore employer subsidization of food access as part of enterprise benefits.
