Midwife-led clinic Millie has joined the University of California, San Francisco’s (UCSF) Health Medical Foundation network to expand maternal health care in the Bay Area.
With clinics in Berkeley and San Jose, Millie provides gynecologic, menopause, and maternity care led by nurse-midwives, with additional guidance from doulas, OB-GYNs, and its AI agent Maia for clinical operations and patient support. The company, which secured funding from Melinda French Gates’ Pivotal Ventures last year, has also partnered with Bay Area hospitals Good Samaritan and Alta Bates Summit Medical Center.
Through the partnership, Millie and UCSF operate as an integrated care team, sharing protocols and technology platforms across pregnancy, birth, postpartum, and gynecologic care. To establish continuous support, Millie’s midwives will lead care, bringing in UCSF’s specialists when medically appropriate. The program will initially serve families in the East Bay via the Medical Foundation’s Women’s Group to start, with plans to expand to other Bay Area communities.
