Mexican healthtech company Plenna has raised $6 million in Series A funding to expand its hybrid care model for women’s health services. The round was led by Mazapil, Dalus Capital, New Ventures, Fondation Botnar, and Karla Berman, following the company’s $4.4 million seed round in December 2022.
Plenna addresses gaps in accessible, high-quality healthcare for women through a combination of physical clinics and online medical services spanning gynecological, reproductive, psychological, and nutritional care. The company operates a hybrid model similar to Tia in the United States, combining in-person and digital health services.
The funding will support technology enhancement and the opening of 13 new clinics across Mexico. Plenna plans to leverage AI to improve clinical processes while maintaining patient-centered care delivery.
“Our goal is to grow responsibly, leveraging AI to improve clinical processes while maintaining a patient-centered experience,” said Lorena Ostos, CEO and co-founder of Plenna.
Currently, 95% of Plenna’s patients are private-pay, primarily women aged 27-35, including professionals, students, and first-time mothers seeking personalized preventive care.
Founded in 2021 by Giovanna Abramo and Lorena Ostos, Plenna targets challenges Mexican women face accessing healthcare services, including stigmatization around women’s health issues, difficulty finding appropriate providers, and managing medical records and appointments.
The company’s technology platform digitalizes patient records and enables provider communication while building comprehensive diagnostics through data-driven algorithms. This approach aims to create scalable, personalized health recommendations for patients.
Plenna focuses on standardizing care by protocolizing services and training professionals to deliver consistent, high-quality care across all touchpoints. The hybrid model combines the convenience of digital health with the clinical capabilities of physical locations.
