June Health has launched a virtual care platform targeting perimenopause and midlife health needs for Canadian women, positioning itself as an employer benefit to address workforce productivity challenges. The Toronto-based company offers integrated clinical care, pharmacy services, and AI-powered navigation for women over 40.
The platform addresses a market gap as women over 40 represent the fastest-growing workforce segment, yet most health benefit programs fail to address their complex needs. June Health estimates the Canadian economy loses $3.5 billion annually due to unaddressed menopause symptoms.
“Untreated perimenopause is a silent productivity and retention crisis that hits companies where it hurts – in absenteeism, burnout, and talent attrition,” said Lori Casselman, founder and CEO of June Health. “Employers have a tremendous opportunity to be part of the solution.”
June Health differentiates itself from generic telehealth platforms by providing full-stack care centered on perimenopause management. The platform connects users with multidisciplinary teams including physicians, dietitians, mental health professionals, and naturopaths trained in women’s health.
The service includes intelligent triage systems, dedicated care coordinators, integrated pharmacy and supplement marketplace, and an AI assistant called “Ask June” providing 24/7 guidance with escalation to human care when needed.
“Perimenopause can last up to 10 years, presents with over 40 common symptoms, and affects everything from cognitive function to cardiovascular health,” said Dr. Romy Nitsch, Medical Director at June Health. “It’s time we stopped treating this as a lifestyle issue and started addressing it as the complex medical phase it truly is.”
June Health targets more than 10 million Canadian women navigating midlife health changes, operating as a workplace benefit that complements existing health plans while aiming to reduce healthcare costs.
Casselman founded the company drawing on healthcare executive experience at Sun Life, Telus Health, and as former Chief Health Officer at League. The founding team includes Dr. Nitsch, Deputy Department Head of Obstetrics & Gynecology at Queen’s University, and Fazlin Bandali, bringing experience from Shopify and early-stage technology companies.
June Health is entering the market as one of the first fully integrated virtual care solution dedicated specifically to midlife women’s health in the Canadian market, addressing what the company calls “one of the last remaining frontiers in inclusive, high-impact benefits design.”
