A new study published in BMC Women’s Health shows that Hinge Health’s digital Women’s Pelvic Health Program significantly reduces both pelvic pain and depression symptoms. The observational study of 797 participants found a 44% reduction in pain after four weeks and a 53% reduction at 12 weeks. Additionally, the probability of screening for moderate to severe depression was 11% lower in the intervention group compared to the control group at 12 weeks.

“Although women’s pelvic pain is incredibly common, it remains undertreated and as a result, many women are going about their lives suffering in silence,” said Bijal Toprani, pelvic health physical therapist at Hinge Health and co-author of the study. “This study builds on validated research supporting the efficacy of Hinge Health’s Women’s Pelvic Health program to make a tangible impact for women and improve their quality of life.”

The study’s findings are particularly significant given that one in three women will experience a pelvic floor disorder in their lifetime. These disorders can result from various causes including pregnancy-related muscle strain, childbirth trauma, post-surgical complications, menopausal hormonal changes, and stress-induced pelvic floor tension.

Access to care remains a significant barrier for many women. According to Hinge Health’s 2025 State of MSK Care Report, while patients typically wait 93 days to see a pelvic floor physical therapist in person, their members access virtual PT appointments within a week on average.
