Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies America Commits $100M to Maternal Healthcare

Healthy Moms, Healthy Babies America (HMHBA) founder Olivia Walton and husband Tom Walton have committed $100 million to maternal healthcare over the next five years.

HMHBA is a bipartisan national campaign working to improve maternal healthcare across the US. The commitment will fund state matching grants, partnerships, and maternal health infrastructure, with the goal of cutting maternal mortality in half.

“America should be the safest place in the world to have a baby. We have the evidence and we have the solutions. Now we need the urgency and investment to make them available to every mom, across the country,” said Walton.

The Waltons’ commitment comes as a direct response to the ongoing maternal health crisis – care deserts persist nationwide, insurance benefits have plateaued, and maternal mortality has increased, despite being largely preventable through early intervention. Meanwhile, the majority of voters support maternal healthcare improvements.

Alongside HMHBA’s financial commitment, the organization is also backing pending legislation, including the Rural Obstetrics Readiness Act and NIH IMPROVE Act, to improve maternal policies and care.

“We know what works, and states across the country are already proving it,” Walton said. “This investment is about scaling those solutions: getting moms into care earlier, making sure postpartum support doesn’t end with ‘see you in six weeks.”
