Ambient Scientific and Dimension NXG have partnered to launch MAI, a wearable designed specifically for women’s health and safety in India. The device runs AI models continuously on-device – no cloud connection required – with up to 14 days of battery life, making it functional in regions where reliable electricity and network coverage can’t be guaranteed.
MAI tracks vitals including heart rate and SpO2, builds a personalized health baseline over time, and flags meaningful deviations rather than just displaying raw numbers. According to the company, it also surfaces early risk insights for conditions like PCOS/PCOD by spotting trends that commonly go unnoticed until clinical intervention is needed. On the lifestyle side, the device guides users through movement, breathwork, sleep, and nutrition-based habits.
The safety layer is the other core proposition. MAI can detect falls, SOS gestures, and opt-in stress cues to trigger rapid alerts – a feature designed for the specific safety concerns women face in India. All processing happens on-device by default, with sensitive data staying private unless the user chooses to share it.
“MAI is built to be a health companion women can rely on in the real world, not just in ideal network conditions,” said Abhishek Tomar, CTO of Dimension NXG. “Ambient Scientific’s processor gave us the performance headroom to run intelligence locally on the wearable, with low latency and privacy by default, while still achieving up to 14 days of battery life on a 180mAh battery.”
The technical enabler is Ambient Scientific’s GPX-10 processor, which performs AI computations directly within custom memory arrays rather than shuttling data back and forth – allowing it to execute 512 billion operations per second while consuming a fraction of the power of conventional chips.
Field trials begin March 19, with thousands of devices going to pre-order customers and trial participants across India. Dimension NXG plans to scale to over 10,000 units by the end of 2026 as the product pursues further medical-grade certifications.
