Website The Female Company
to make really cool products for modern women - to break the taboo!
YOUR MISSION
- Your main task will be the extension and optimization of our existing e-commerce platform around the whole stack, with a focus on frontend development
- This includes the relaunch of our legacy WordPress frontend into a modern headless JAMStack + SSR hybrid with Next.js or similar
- This also includes the dvevelopment of features for our WooCommerce based backend running on Heroku and a potential migration to another e-commerce system later down the line
- If you are interested, you might become part of the development team for a React Native based mobile application at a later stage
- You will work together with interdisciplinary, agile project teams with colleagues from content, design and marketing
YOUR PROFILE
- 4+ years experience in software engineering, preferably including e-commerce projects
- Passion for high quality code and clean software architecture. You know how to translate complex designs into a well structured frontend library. Solving tricky backend problems while keeping complexity low is your strength
- You have worked with React.js, JavaScript/EcmaScript, HTML, CSS, PHP and MySQL. Bonus points for experience with WordPress, Next.js or React Native
- You have used Git and CI/CD in most of your projects. You know how and when to write unit, integration and E2E tests to ensure the functionality of your project. A little DevOps experience is a big plus
- You want to shape the architectural and (tech)cultural landscape of a young e-commerce startup by actively providing input and insights. In your opinion, collaborative discussion is a great way to solve problems
- You speak english fluently. Fluent german is great, but not required

ABOUT US
Founded in 2018 by Ann-Sophie Claus and Sinja Stadelmaier, The Female Company is a FemCare start-up which offers organic period and postpartum products and a platform around education on female health.
We were the first subscription model for organic period products in Germany and all products are made of certified organic cotton, which is grown without the use of chemicals or pesticides. Our overall aim is not only to provide sustainable alternatives, but to break taboos around shameful topics and to empower women to be proud in their womanhood! Further, we support our social initiative against period poverty in India. Find out more about Pads For Girls.
Our most recent successes:
With “The Tampon Book”, we significantly contributed to the political decision to reduce the tax rate on period products from 19% to 7%. Additionally to Anni & Sinjas invitation to the German Bundestag, the founders were also invited by the United Nations to be political spokespeople at the Women’s Rights Commission in New York.
