UK-based Hesta Health has launched with £2 million in pre-seed funding to build a healthcare platform focused on women’s health, starting with comprehensive postnatal support. The oversubscribed round was led by Eka Ventures, with participation from Blue Lion Capital, Ascension Ventures, Samos Investments, and angel investors.

The company was co-founded by Dr. Sujitha Selvarajah and Amanda Cupples. Dr. Selvarajah is an NHS Obstetrics & Gynaecology doctor with experience in global public health and research at Oxford and UCL. Cupples is a former Managing Director of Northern Europe & MEA at Airbnb and CCO/COO of Babylon Health.

Hesta Health’s platform will deliver integrated, tech-enabled postnatal care combining clinical support with specialist services including pelvic health, breastfeeding, and mental health. The service targets women and birthing parents who have had a baby in the last two years, addressing what the company describes as minimal healthcare support during a transformative period.

The funding will support UK market entry, digital product development, regulatory compliance, and team expansion across product, technology, clinical operations, and research functions. The platform uses a digital-first model with in-person support when needed to deliver accessible postnatal care.

“We tell women to advocate for themselves — to speak up, push harder, demand more. And we absolutely should. But what if we built a healthcare system that worked for every woman in the first place?” said Dr. Sujitha Selvarajah, Co-Founder. “After birth, women’s health needs can increase, just as the system’s ability to meet them falls away.”

The company cites research by McKinsey indicating women spend approximately 25% more of their lives in ill health than men, representing a $1 trillion annual lost economic opportunity globally. Hesta Health aims to address this gap through milestone-led care pathways and predictive insights designed to support both recovery and long-term wellness.

“The traditional healthcare system puts the onus on people to identify that something is wrong before seeking care,” said Amanda Cupples, Co-Founder. “Our approach flips this model, using technology and purpose-built operations to deliver the right care at the right time.”

Camilla Dolan, General Partner at Eka Ventures, said the firm was “delighted to lead Hesta Health’s pre-seed round as they tackle one of the most important and underserved areas in healthcare.”

Hesta Health positions postnatal care as its entry point into a broader vision for women’s healthcare across all life stages.
