Emagine Solutions Technology has added AI-supported wellness features to The Journey Pregnancy app, including preeclampsia risk assessment and monitoring capabilities. The features allow users to track symptoms, log blood pressure measurements and receive alerts about potential health concerns.
Preeclampsia, a high blood pressure disorder, affects more than 11 million women globally each year and occurs in one in seven hospital births across the United States. The condition costs the U.S. healthcare system over $2 billion annually.
Users can log pregnancy symptoms, blood pressure readings using in-app vitals scanning technology, and other health metrics. The app provides a preeclampsia assessment and alerts at-risk users to consult a medical professional. The app includes a medication-logging feature for tracking prescriptions.
“While providers monitor blood pressure at routine prenatal visits, blood pressure can become problematic between visits, or during the postpartum period when monitoring is less frequent,” Courtney Williams, co-founder and CEO of Emagine Solutions Technology, stated in the press release. “This is especially challenging for rural women who face longer distances to access appointments or even maternity care deserts with no access to care at all.”
The app features Aria, a virtual doula that provides pregnancy and postpartum information from research-backed resources. Users can access support through Aria around the clock for questions related to preeclampsia, wellness, nutrition and other pregnancy topics.
