Elitone, a non-invasive pelvic health device for treating stress urinary incontinence, is now available through the National Health Service (NHS) in the United Kingdom, providing millions of women with a new treatment option.

The device can be accessed through GPs and hospital consultants across the UK, with a home delivery and prescription service. According to the company, approximately 42% of women in the UK suffer from bladder leaks, though the actual figure may be higher as many women do not seek help due to embarrassment or lack of awareness about treatment options.

“Our research into this issue has shown that women are often embarrassed to talk about incontinence, or worse, just accept it. This shouldn’t be the case,” said Gloria Kolb, Co-Founder and CEO of Elitone. “We understand that women want an easy, non-invasive and highly effective solution and this opportunity allows us to support women and the NHS in providing accessible, high-quality care.”

The device works by delivering gentle neuromuscular stimulation through an external, reusable GelPad applied to the skin like a panty liner. This stimulation contracts and relaxes the pelvic floor muscles 100 times in a 20-minute session, performing Kegel exercises automatically. With the device the exercises are longer and stronger than what most women could achieve on their own. Unlike traditional treatments, Elitone does not require exercises, vaginal insertion, or surgery.

Bladder leaks are often caused by weakened pelvic floor muscles due to factors including childbirth, aging, menopause, or other conditions, and can significantly impact quality of life. Many affected women report emotional distress and avoidance of activities they previously enjoyed.

The device is expected to be cost-saving for the NHS compared to other current treatment options, while providing women with a discreet solution they can use at home.
