Millie has launched Maia, an AI agent integrated into its patient-facing mobile app and clinical operations. The tool provides 24/7 answers to patient questions, appointment management, pregnancy care reminders, and streamlines clinical workflows.

Maia tailors interactions to each patient, remembering past conversations, learning communication preferences, and adapting guidance based on medical history with Millie. The AI agent provides automated, evidence-based answers without requiring patients to wait for responses or search through guides and FAQs.

“The healthcare system is full of valuable patient data that sits trapped in disconnected systems,” said Chase Schwalbach, SVP of Product and Technology at Millie. “Most legacy infrastructure was never designed for AI to access or understand that data. At Millie, we’ve built a centralized, AI-ready data platform that connects clinical, operational, and patient-facing information in one place.”

Millie rebuilt its data and analytics platform to enable AI functionality. The architecture includes automated data ingestion and a semantic data layer that allows AI to analyze information in real time. Business users can generate charts, spreadsheets, and analyses using plain English queries.

The system predicts staffing needs, visualizes appointment availability and clinical utilization, and generates patient follow-up lists and support ticket management.

Millie also uses ambient clinical documentation and charting tools to extract and structure data from electronic medical records. The technology is designed to detect and address risks earlier, flag potential concerns based on patient and provider data, and focus clinical attention.

“True impact comes from reimagining how care is delivered from beginning to end,” said Emma Silverman, Partner at TMV. “We’ve seen Millie transform care delivery, redesigning the entire experience with its midwifery-led model, strategic hospital partnerships, and integrated in-person and remote support.”

Millie plans to open several clinics in 2026 in California and other US states with new health system partners. The company recently expanded its gynecology services to include fertility assessments, perimenopause, and menopause care.

“We have seen significant interest from health systems that are looking for next-generation solutions that not only address acute OBGYN shortages, but also meet the expectations of modern parents, and deliver growth with cost efficiency,” said Anu Sharma, Founder and CEO of Millie.

Millie has served over 2,500 patients since launching in September 2022. The company operates clinics in San Francisco and San Jose.
