For many years, Clearblue has been a name synonymous with in home pregnancy and fertility tests. Now, the brand is venturing into a new arena — menopause — with the launch of its Menopause Stage Indicator. This new product aims to address the significant gap in information and resources available to women approaching or experiencing menopause.
Menopause is a natural life stage that affects millions of women, yet the conversation around it has been remarkably muted. According to Clearblue Brand Director Leah Wood, “Menopause has 10 times more searches than fertility but makes up only 25% of the conversation size.” Statistics reveal that more than two-thirds of women feel unprepared for their menopause journey, and only 45% believe they have enough information to manage it effectively.
The Clearblue Menopause Stage Indicator combines a woman’s urine FSH (Follicle Stimulating Hormone) measurements with her age and menstrual cycle history to give an indication of her current stage of menopause.
“Clearblue has been a pioneer of innovation in the pregnancy and fertility category for over 35 years,” said Dr. Fiona Clancy, PhD, R&D Senior Director at Clearblue. “But we know a woman’s reproductive journey doesn’t end with trying to get or getting pregnant – the journey continues as do her questions about what comes next. The Clearblue Menopause Stage Indicator is a game-changer that will help empower women with information and understanding of their menopause journey.”
The Menopause Stage Indicator works in four steps:
- Purchase and Download: Buy the Clearblue Menopause Stage Indicator and download the free Menopause Stage – Clearblue me app, available on iOS and Android platforms.
- Set Up: Create an account in the app and follow the provided instructions to prepare for testing.
- Testing: Over 10 days, perform five urine FSH tests, one every other day. The app will then combine these results with your cycle history and age to provide an indication of your likely menopause stage.
- Results and Report: Generate a personalized report that includes your likely menopause stage, FSH test results, and symptom tracking for the last six weeks. This report can be shared with healthcare professionals for a more informed discussion about potential treatment options.
The Menopause Stage – Clearblue me app not only stores your test results but also enables women to track symptoms and menstrual cycles. It also offers educational content that covers understanding the different stages of menopause, managing symptoms, and preparing for doctors’ visits.
Menopause expert, Dr. Heather Hirsch, MD, MS, MSCP, comments: “I am thrilled to be teaming up with Clearblue for the launch of their Menopause Stage Indicator. It is a groundbreaking product that will be beneficial for both women and healthcare professionals. The menopause transition can lead to an array of different and frustrating symptoms that can make women feel confused, but having a diary log of symptoms, cycle history, and the results from the FSH tests will certainly help clinicians make a more accurate diagnosis and start the dialogue of safe and available treatment options if appropriate.”
