About Alva
Alva’s on a mission to transform menopause care and enable all women to live longer in good health. Menopause is a huge and underserved market. By 2025, over 1 billion will be in menopause. In the UK currently 13 million women are menopausal. 80% of women have symptoms, which can last up to 15 years.
Women are suffering in silence. There’s a stigma around menopause which is one of many challenges in this space. Alva is building a digital health platform – tackling the fundamentals of education, assessment of symptoms and access to treatment. If we get this right we could transform women’s health across the world. We’ve got big plans, and have some of the UK and Europe’s top VCs supporting our journey.
About this role
We’re hiring a growth marketer to lead in acquiring our first users. You’ll be joining us right at the start, and we want you here for the long term. We’re looking for someone ambitious to come and own setting up Alva’s growth function – working directly with the founders. You’ll get support from us, but we want someone to own this! Frustrated by the pace of your current role? That won’t happen here – you’ll be testing, learning and iterating as fast as you can. We’re looking for someone data driven and curious, who can ruthlessly prioritise and focus.
What you’ll be doing
- Establishing a testing plan and setting up and running experiments from scratch. We want you to find the channels which really work for acquisition at Alva (PPC, SEO, paid, affiliates etc).
- Helping us set up a data and insight driven company. You’ll be creating hypothesis, testing and statistically evaluating results to drive learnings.
- Learning about Alva’s different customers and their needs. You’ll use these learnings to generate clear actions. Whilst you will feed learnings into the product, but you’ll be clearly marketing side of growth.
- You’ll be focussed initially on acquiring users onto paid products. But you’ll see the value of growing our community, and learning from them. You’ll help us set our focus areas – to ensure we are engaging users for the long term.
- Shaping the direction growth takes at Alva. You’ll be reporting to Annie (CEO), but working closely with both founders to create ambitious targets and the plans to meet them.
- You’d be the sixth member of the team. Sometimes it’s “all hands on deck”. We want a real team player, who is flexible to support things that are outside of their role.
- Whilst this role will focus on acquisition initially, we’d love an all rounder who wants to optimise all the pirate metrics.
What we’re looking for someone
- Dynamic and motivated – a track record of getting things done, and excited by the idea of setting tests up from scratch.
- With significant marketing experience – in high growth environments, ideally having spent most of their career in direct to consumer products
- Who is highly analytical – you’ll be someone who is obsesses with tracking metrics, through spreadsheets and databases. You’re approach to growth will be grounded in data.
- Able to ruthlessly focus and prioritise. This is a role where you’ll be wearing a number of different hats.
- Who sees challenges as opportunities – humility and optimism are crucial in this role.
- Who can think outside the box – there are challenges around regulated products that will require this.
- Creative – we believe in the power of design and brand, and want someone who shares these values to lead our marketing
- Who speaks their mind. We value diverse thinking. We expect you to challenge our ideas and assumptions.
- Independent and autonomous – you’ll have a lot of responsibility and ownership from day 1.
- Who sees joining a company this early for the huge opportunity that it is. You’ll be helping us raise the bar in women’s health. Ideally, you’ll have an interest in developing our company culture and the conviction to contribute to it.
Benefits
- A competitive salary – to reflect experience

- A well-specced Mac laptop and other equipment you need to work (screens etc)
- Flexible working hours – work at the times that are best for you.
- Great team events like pottery making and wine tasting. Our benefits get reviewed periodically with input from the team.
