Transforming Women’s Health with life-changing, personalised, medtech solutions for intimate health:

The women’s health market is large and underserved, a market ripe for disruption. AVeta Medical’s vision is to help women manage and embrace the body’s hormonal shifts shamelessly. AVeta Medical’s Founder completed the BioInnovate Ireland Fellowship in 2017 and has since developed patent-protected technologies to treat Postmenopausal Vaginal Atrophy (VA), one of the most significant unmet needs in the women’s health space. She has established a leadership team with direct experience in launching new products in women’s health and a Clinical Advisory board of Key Opinion Leaders in women’s health. AVeta’s long-term mission is to establish a global women’s health platform with personalised solutions for health issues for every stage in a woman’s life.

AVeta Medical is based in Galway, Ireland, a vibrant medtech innovation hub. It is a spinout of NUI Galway, developing a device targeting the 39m women who suffer with VA, a global market of c€2.5B. We have already completed proof of concept preclinical work in rodent and ovine models and successfully completed a US feasibility/tolerability clinical study in patients. In 2021 AVeta Medical was awarded the EIC accelerator grant of €2.5M which will fund our first clinical evidence study in H12023 in advance of our first funding round.  We are aiming to launch our first product into the US market in 2025 and the European market in 2026. 

AVeta’s Founder and the Board of Directors wish to hire a CEO to take the Company forward and the Founder will remain on the Board as a Founder Shareholder.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

The successful candidate will serve as the Company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and will manage all aspects of the organisation. Linking across the various functions and stakeholders associated with the Company. The CEO will work closely with the Company’s Board of Directors (BoD) in the formulation and delivery of AVeta Medical’s values, culture, policies and strategies.  

Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

·        Building and directing the organisation in line with the vision, strategies and goals set and agreed by the leadership team and BoD.

·        Leading and partnering with other senior team members to build a business plan to grow and strengthen the company, identifying a product pipeline to make the business sustainable.

·        Working with function heads to set goals and agree resources for each department to deliver the company’s business plan to time, quality and budget.

·        Working with the finance function to lead the Company’s fundraising (equity, grant funding and debt as required) to ensure adequate resources are in place to deliver agreed plans and to prepare the annual budgets, analysing investment risks and returns and informing the BoD accordingly.

·        Representing the Company externally and communicating with shareholders, potential investors, regulatory and other government agencies and key stakeholders.

·        Maintaining awareness of the competitive market landscape, expansion opportunities and industry developments.

This is a full time, permanent role based in Galway, Ireland with a hybrid work-from-home opportunity on 1-2 days per week. The CEO reports directly to the BoD. Significant international travel will be required as we prepare for first market launch in the US and Europe soon after. It is expected that the CEO will spend a significant amount of time in the US in the few months before launch and until signs of market traction are evident.  A competitive remuneration package is available commensurate with experience and incorporating share options to enable the successful candidate to share in the company’s overall value as we grow.

SKILLSET & EXPERIENCE

·        Inspiring leadership:
-ability to attract, recruit, motivate and manage a high-performing team
-several years of cross-functional management experience with good understanding of sales, marketing/PR, finance, R&D, clinical

-managing organisational structure with performance management principles and management best practice
-leading by example in an entrepreneurial start-up environment, ‘roll up the sleeves’ mentality

·        Developing high quality business strategies and effective implementation plans

·        Business management 

·        Good understanding of corporate finance and fundraising capability

·        International commercialisation, particularly in relation to the US regarding healthcare structure in women’s health, reimbursement processes, distribution and sales channels, the significant role of digital media in women’s health

·        Analytical ability and problem-solving skills

·        Clarity in communication at all levels (team, BoD, investors, shareholders, regulators/government officials)

·        Background in Lifesciences preferred, especially in relation to women’s health; experience of FDA/EMEA clearance process; competence in discussions with clinicians
