The Associate Director, Privacy, will report to the Chief Privacy Officer and will be a key member of the Global Privacy Office. This experienced privacy professional will provide privacy compliance expertise and guidance to various stakeholders and business teams to facilitate compliance with privacy regulatory requirements and relevant internal policies and procedures. The experienced privacy professional will also assist with the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and procedures; draft and negotiate privacy contract clauses; monitor relevant global privacy and data protection laws and regulations, and other privacy-related duties as assigned.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support the privacy compliance efforts of the Chief Privacy Office, the Global Privacy Team, and the Network of Privacy Stewards, including supporting the Company’s compliance with applicable global privacy laws.
- Engage in negotiations of privacy and data protection provisions.
- Assist with supplier privacy assessments and data protection impact assessments, as needed.
- Provide guidance on risk mitigation activities to business leaders in consultation with other SMEs.
- Participate in privacy-related meetings, including providing regular updates on key privacy issues.
- Assess and execute upon recommendations and guidance with respect to the Global Privacy Program.
- Assist with identifying and assessing privacy compliance risks and recommend and implement mitigation strategies.
- Advise on relevant global privacy regulations impacting the organization.
- Assist with maintenance and updates to privacy policies and notices, internal policies and procedures, and training materials.
- Track and stay current on state, national, local, and industry-specific data privacy laws, principles, and best practices.
- Provide guidance consistent with law, privacy standards, and company policy; appropriately balance division/function/corporate business objectives and privacy risks.
- Assist with other privacy-related efforts as assigned.
Education Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
- Master’s or comparable degree in relevant field, preferable in law, risk management or corporate compliance.
Required Experience and Skills:
- At least 6-8 years of significant relevant privacy legal or privacy compliance experience.
- Knowledge of global privacy regulations and global privacy principles and standards, including but not limited to GDPR, PIPL, and LGPD.
- Providing direct legal or compliance support and business solutions for privacy, security, data protection, or equivalent functions in a large, regulated, and matrixed organization.
- In pharmaceutical, medical device, and/or biotech companies is strongly preferred but not required.
- Incorporating privacy by design and privacy regulatory requirements into business processes and programs.
- Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication, collaboration, and leadership skills.
- Strong ability to influence across functional groups and business franchises to gain cooperation and alignment on operational issues and objectives.
- Demonstrated ethical mindset and integrity; ability to exercise sound judgment and to demonstrate courage and candor.
