From the White House to Amazon CTO Werner Vogels, from major venture funds like Insight Partners to institutions like McKinsey, SVB, and the JP Morgan Life Sciences conference, even at Davos – women’s health is ubiquitously the talk of the town.
There’s undeniable momentum, and it’s our collective opportunity to seize it and sprint forward.
Selecting momentum as my word of the year for this ecosystem and moment in time is a nod to our sector’s extraordinary evolution from a perceived niche to a formidable force in global healthcare.
Momentum signifies the swift pace of innovation, the influx of investments, and the grwoing recognition of the criticality of women's health.
It embodies more than speed; it symbolizes our sector's consistent and accelerating strides in technology, research, and market penetration.
It represents the unified ambition of startups, investors, healthcare professionals, and policymakers to fill the long-standing voids in women's healthcare.
The term embodies our ecosystem's aspiration to sustain this swift pace, ensuring that advances in women's health continue to dismantle barriers, defy norms, and forge a future where gender-specific healthcare needs are met with precision, empathy and innovation.
So here’s to momentum. Here’s to 2024. Let's go for it!

Empowering Individual Health Journeys In the Youth and Education sector, femtech is making significant strides, with digital platforms adeptly filling the educational voids in menstrual health for young women. Data indicates a rise in adoption of these platforms, leading to enhanced health outcomes and more awareness.
At the same time there's a notable pivot towards self-taught sex education, spurred by the deficiencies of formal education systems. Femtech applications are increasingly being harnessed by adolescents to address a wide spectrum of healthcare needs, including the challenges associated with menarche.
In Reproductive Health and Family Planning, AI-driven personalized health recommendations are revolutionizing women's healthcare. These AI systems analyze individual health data to craft precise, personalized care strategies. AI is also playing a pivotal role in the fertility space, particularly in fertility clinics. The Postpartum Period is also garnering more attention, with solutions amplifying care and support for new mothers.
Innovators in Menopause and Perimenopause continue to lead public discourse, spotlighting innovations in care, diagnostics and reproductive longevity. The focus on inclusivity and accessibility in women’s health innovation is now stronger than ever, with initiatives aimed at diminishing health disparities among women of color and the LGBTQ+ community gathering momentum.

As I write, I believe that the femtech industry finds itself at a pivotal point today. The ecosystem's influence and impact in reshaping women's health are undoubtedly growing, and it's our collective opportunity to continue to write this success story this year.
