💬 I wrote this article (link in bio!) last year in early April 2020. Back then I didn't have the courage to share it, but it's a new year and I've grown to understand that in a world where we all constantly strive for perfection, keeping it real can truly feel and be revolutionary at times. April 2020-Kathrin didn't know that we'd still be in lockdown in 2021, that I'd still not have found all the answers I was looking for back then and that I'd still be figuring out how to grow into the person my mission needs me to be. But... I'm still trying! And considering how difficult 2020 has been I guess that in itself is already some sort of success! 😂⁠

So here's to a better and most importantly healthy 2021 for all of us! Happy New Year, friends! We got this! 💪⁠

Femtech Insider was founded in 2019 and 2020 was the first full year of our Weekly Femtech Insider Brief, so what better way to reflect than to take another look at the headlines, that got thousands in our industry thinking, talking, founding and investing! 📈⁠

As we were putting the below together we realized, that although 2020 has been a difficult and trying year for many, it wasn’t all bad and we found myself smiling and celebrating all the things we as a community have collectively achieved over this past year. 💪⁠

1️⃣ Find a problem you deeply care about and understand. Because if you get it right – you’re going to be working on that problem for a long time. There’s so many personal reasons which make improving the experience of menopause incredibly important to me personally. These reasons spur me on every day.⁠

2️⃣ Spend zero time on what you could have done, and devote all of your time on what you might do.’ I recently read this quote from Ben Horowitz again – it helps with being kind to yourself.⁠

3️⃣ It’s going to be really hard! Sometimes the things you expect to be hard will be easy, and enjoy that moment. But most of the time things will be harder than you expect. This, I believe, is a universal truth of startups. So accept the things you can not change, and if you’ve chosen something that really inspires you there will be joy in the hard work.⁠

💰 Rhia Ventures just yesterday announced their investment in Israel-based OCON Healthcare to assist the US launch of Ballerine, the first and only 3D spherical copper IUB (Intrauterine Ball). ⁠

The Ballerine’s unique shape reduces irritation to the endometrium with fewer malpositions and perforations, which are significant drawbacks associated with current T-shaped IUDs. The financing will also help expand Phase II clinical trials for OCON’s SEAD product, which offers point-of-care therapy for abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB).⁠
