In March 2022 maternal health startup Delfina Care announced its $5.3M seed round led by Story Ventures to democratize access to best-in-class care for expecting mothers everywhere. A few month later the company now joins the latest cohort of UnitedHealthcare’s 4-month accelerator program along with 9 other digital health startups. The UnitedHealthcare Accelerator first launched in 2019 and has since supported 30 companies, who are building the future of healthcare. The program is designed to accelerate businesses through capital, mentorship, community, fundraising support and other networking opportunities.
Delfina is the only women’s health focused startup joining the accelerator’s latest cohort. The company uses algorithms that are used to predict and proactively manage pregnancy risks and provide a patient-centered, personalized care experience.
In an interview with Femtech Insider Delfina Founder & CEO Senan Ebrahim explained: “There is hardly a space in healthcare where the gap between what we do and what we can do is bigger than in maternal health. Data in pregnancy care is especially fragmented which has led to its limited use in past decades. From my MD-PhD work in neuroscience creating predictive models, I have seen how utilizing data in new ways can improve patient care. Our approach to unifying and proactively analyzing pregnancy data will enable us to make true progress improving health outcomes for moms and babies.”
Besides joining the UnitedHealthcare Accelerator, Delfina is also currently part of Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate.
