Toronto-based DTC Fertility startup Bird & Be has announced a $1.8M financing round led by BAM Ventures, an early-stage consumer fund founded by Brian Lee, co-founder and former CEO of LegalZoom and the Honest Company. Other investors participating in the round are Elliot Cohen, Co-founder of PillPack, Slow Ventures, JJ Wilson , Judy Brooks, HaloHealth, Backbone Angels, and Fitt Ventures.

Bird & Be offers direct-to-consumer, personalized at-home kits designed to optimize fertility outcomes for people with sperm and eggs. The company optimizes through two pillars: Education (content and patented early screening diagnostics) and Action (custom supplements, prescriptions and referral network). With this setup Bird & Be wants to break down barriers related to access via information, affordable products, and physical location by digitizing basic protocols and accelerating time to care.

Bird & Be introduced its signature line of supplements in July and is planning to launch at-home tools such as a patent-pending urine stick Ovarian Reserve test, pregnancy, ovulation and sperm tests this fall.
