The Role: 

Carrot is seeking a Senior Contracts Manager to manage negotiations of Carrot’s largest customer contracts, including master service agreements, service level agreements, and data processing agreements. This role is an opportunity to be Carrot’s first in-house lawyer with this area of expertise and to join a dynamic and quickly scaling legal team. The right legal professional for this position has an appetite to take on a wide variety of agreements and negotiations as our team evolves, including vendor agreements, provider network contracts, and non-disclosure agreements. Healthcare regulatory and compliance project management may also be a part of this person’s area of responsibility.

The Team: 

The Senior Contracts Manager reports to Carrot’s VP of Business Operations and sits within a pod of other legal professionals, including our Director of Compliance and ERISA Counsel, and our Director of Legal Operations.

Minimum Qualifications: 

  • J.D Law Degree
  • 3-5 years of experience negotiating software-as-a-service (SaaS) contracts, with a focus on data rights, privacy, and ownership
  • Experience negotiating Data Processing Agreements in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
  • Familiarity with ambiguity and a start-up legal environment, either through working for start-ups as clients or through previous experience working at a start-up

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Familiarity with Ironclad, a contract management software tool
  • Some working knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements, including HIPAA and ERISA
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to successfully handle multiple concurrent tasks/assignments simultaneously: attention to detail with emphasis on accuracy
