This is an extremely exciting role for someone seeking to build out the finance function at a high-growth startup. You will report into Tia’s Head of Finance and Analytics, and work closely with the Chief Product and Operations Officer and other leaders throughout the company.  Tia’s finance team has broad exposure across the business and shapes strategic and tactical decisions through data-driven insights. You will develop a deep understanding of our financial performance, perform in-depth analytics and financial modeling, and own our growth projections.  You will also run the day-to-day management of our finance function, including corporate and clinic budgets, accounting and financial reporting, and new process development.

About you:

  • 3-4 years of experience in investment banking, consulting, or as a financial analyst / associate at a fast-paced, high-growth organization
  • Deep understanding of finance and accounting principles
  • You thrive in ambiguity, yet drive process and structure across an organization
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, and are able to juggle multiple projects at once
  • A high sense of urgency while maintaining meticulous attention to detail
  • An independent worker who can run against problems with relatively little direction, knows when and how to escalate effectively if blocked and when to triangulate
  • You straddle between “shaper” & “executor”, your sweet spot is in the space of creating process, order, and repeatability
  • Comfortable holding people accountable and herding cats to get projects completed
  • Preferably an undergraduate degree in finance, business, accounting, math or economics

Skills

  • Highly adept at financial modeling (Excel skills are a must)
  • SQL experience preferred
  • Process development and management
  • Metrics / reporting experience
  • Experience with invoicing and expense management
  • Deep understanding of how financial statements link together and ability to recognize abnormal expenditures and balances

Responsibilities:

  • Financial Planning and Analysis 
      • Develop revenue forecasts for new and existing clinics, including top-line performance and detailed volume and pricing by service line
      • Budget our corporate and clinic spend and capital expenditures associated with new clinic opening
      • Work with the COO and VP of People quarterly to budget for new hires
  • Financial Modeling
  • Provide scenario analysis based on clinic launch timelines and new service line development
      • Analyze partnership deals and propose methods to ensure that Tia is hitting it’s business needs
      • Evaluate business expansion opportunities across “owned-and-operated” as well as “partnership” and “payer” opportunities
      • Develop fundraising models and evaluate / propose effective ways to capitalize the business through various financial instruments (equity sales, debt, restructuring)
      • Build business cases for board review when we are seeking to understand a new service line or model in the business
  • Develop executive-level reporting capabilities
      • Analyze actuals, variance from forecast, and performance and summarize trends and actionable insights
      • Develop clear, concise monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
      • Tie financial performance with business metrics, operational shifts and trends
  • Manage finance functions related to Invoices, bills & reimbursements
      • Ensure that all contractor & vendor invoices are paid on-time and that they’re billing inline with their contracted rates.
      • Serve as a resource for onboarding new vendors into the organization
      • Achieve excellent processes for reviewing invoices and employee reimbursements in collaboration with our accountants.
      • Maintain and refine process for employee and company expenses and standard reimbursement policy across the organization.
  • Develop core financial operations and policies
      • Create a scalable budgeting system that holds each department accountable to our spend targets and creates the appropriate level of transparency
      • Lead a monthly spend review with corporate and clinic leadership
      • Set expense policies that align with our budget and implement systems to manage employee expenses
  • Ensure that Tia is compliant as related to taxes, business registrations, & insurance
      • Serve as a resource for People Operations & Recruiting to make sure Tia is compliant with local state regulations for existing and new employees
      • Ensure that Tia has all necessary business licenses & registrations when entering a new market
      • Manage and complete timely filing for taxes & serve as an employee resource for all things taxes related
      • Own relationships with Tia’s insurance vendors to make sure our business is covered to scale
  • Manage the month-end close process
    • Turn our monthly financial close into a smooth operating machine, with clear owners, responsibilities and schedules for revenue reporting and expense inputs
    • Continually think about ways to improve our reporting, through more accurate expense allocation, consolidated financials, and department breakdowns
    • Become the expert on our actual revenue and spend, develop a deep understand of how we are tracking against projections, through detailed variance analyses
    • Be the point of contact for our accounting team, holding them to the appropriate schedule and ensuring they have the information they need
