Role Summary: As the Head of Development you will oversee all aspects of opening new physical spaces. This includes, but is not limited to rollout strategy, real estate acquisition, design management, construction oversight, and operations/facilities across new site openings. You will manage policies and procedures, program controls for cross-departmental operations (e.g. safety, security, and infrastructure), procurement, scheduling, and approval of tools to use for maximization of time and resources. Responsibilities: 

  • Oversee clinic development from site search through closeout phase
      • Oversee physical space expansion and new clinic launches
        • Ensure new spaces hit targets including opening on time and within budget
        • Hit targets for employee satisfaction with facilities at opening
      • Ensure site selection covers a thorough search of preferred neighborhoods and the best deals for Tia are pursued
      • Oversee pre-construction (early pricing exercises, sub-selection) through closeout (punch list, turnover) and ensure end to end processes run smoothly
      • Oversee positive and successful move-in, turnover, and opening of new spaces
  • Create, define, and revise a playbook for a nation-wide rollout of brick and mortar sites that is rinsable and repeatable
      • Work cross-departmentally with Tia leads and teams to develop Tia’s rollout strategy
      • Create systems and processes for successful new space openings, including detailed checklists, timelines, and budgets to hold all parties accountable
      • Devise playbook versions to include systems and processes for both owned and operated clinics and joint venture clinics through partnerships with health systems
      • Work with team and partners to continuously find ways to save time and money on new spaces
  • Develop and maintain budgets across all projects
      • Work with Business Operations team to model out potential new sites
      • Create project budgets at LOI signing to plan to spend. Update at DD phase with early pricing from partners
      • Open spaces within or under budget in all instances
      • Aim for 10% savings from project to project, made possible through set standards, national relationships, and buying power
  • Develop and maintain schedules across all projects; be nimble and fast with a new site opening timelines
      • Develop and maintain schedules across all projects, moving and shifting as needed, strategically
      • Find savings in the timeline wherever possible; know when to strategically take risks to open spaces on an expedited/creative timeline
      • Work with partners to hit project schedule and reach substantial completion early to allow for additional training in the space
  • Build and lead the development team and partners/consultants inclusive of real estate, design project management, construction, site opening operation, and facilities
      • Manage the Development Team and refine the org structure to lead to efficient brick & mortar growth and scalability
      • Hire and train development team members
      • Work with team members to lean into strengths and develop opportunities for growth
      • Find and establish relationships with local and national partners/consultants to develop new clinic design, build and opening standards
  • Compassionate and consistent communication always. Lead weekly presentations with the Executive team, create & maintain living documents to keep all parties accountable, transparent communication across departments
    • Devise presentations to update executive team members across project phase status updates, schedule and timeline milestones, budget updates, and ongoing strategy across new and existing markets
    • Living documents to be created, updated, managed to include Development Life Cycle, Master Checklist and Timeline, Pipeline, Responsibility Matrix
    • Work cross-departmentally to ensure all teams are updated and prepared for all phases of new site openings

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in the development field, ideally working in fast-paced startups; hospitality and retail scaling experience is a plus
  • A strong leader with the ability to develop & lead a robust team
  • Excellent time and task management skills
