ABOUT THE ROLE
We’re looking for an all-round experienced lawyer who is excited about Clue’s mission and who will build up the legal function to support our growth journey to become a much-loved consumer app that is also a global regulated medical device (SaMD) company. With 12 million monthly active users around the world, data privacy is another key compliance area. The role will require a pragmatic, hands-on approach coupled with strategic thinking and the ability to work cross-functionally.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Providing strategic legal advice to the management team as well as responding to the company’s changing legal needs and building out the legal function at Clue
- Overall responsibility for our global data privacy strategy (we do have a data privacy specialist in-house as well as a DPO)
- Leading any future financing or M&A activities, retaining and managing external counsel
- Assisting the management team with day-to-day corporate law and governance questions, reviewing key contracts
- Assisting the People Team with employment law questions (in conjunction with our external specialist counsel)
ABOUT YOU:
- German qualified lawyer – focus on general corporate, medical device (or related) regulatory law, or data privacy law. Some experience of both general corporate law and regulatory compliance required.
- Minimum 5 years experience, ideally significantly more
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent analytical skills, along with the ability to clearly prioritize and communicate high-impact areas
- Proven track record of managing legal issues across multiple jurisdictions, including the procurement and synthesis of advice from expert external counsel in different subject areas
- Ideally, you have tech company startup experience – at minimum, you have an entrepreneurial mindset, you’re flexible and curious about mobile app software development
- Great team player who enjoys working cross-functionally, and learning from and mentoring others in a culturally diverse environment
- You are excited about Clue’s mission and leveraging the power of big data in a way that is compliant, productive, responsible and respectful of data subjects
