HER is the world’s largest community for womxn and queer people. Our app community is 6 million people strong and we run events online to connect our queer community across the world. We’re a remote team that’s looking for smart and driven people who care deeply about the LGBTQ+ community to help us grow.
The Role
Data is vital to our biggest decisions. From how our app is functioning, to how to run our events, to what clients need to know about us, you and your work will be one of the key defining factors for the majority of decisions that shape this company and where it is headed.
We are looking for a Data Scientist to help us re-develop our existing data workflow, enable better scalability, and improve accuracy. In addition to this, we’re looking for someone to help improve our ability to discover the relevant information in our data, driving our decisions in delivering an ever improving service.
The primary focus of the role will be in establishing a new data gathering pipeline, doing statistical analysis, and helping build the analytical basis for the prediction systems. This is the perfect opportunity to be intricately involved in running analytical experiments in a methodical manner, and give us a hand in improving the next generation of recommendation systems that power our social experience.
Responsibilities
- Work in cross functional teams to develop key metrics and drive analytical decision making
- Develop metrics and generate insights to make actionable recommendations
- Develop data acquisition and analysis pipelines
- Perform hypothesis testing and test design
- Present and communicate results in a clear manner
- Extend company’s data with third party sources when needed
- Perform ad-hoc analysis
- Process, clean, and verify the integrity of data used for analysis
- Support efforts to ensure data integrity across all platforms and departments
Experience
- Experience with ETL and data pipelines, map reduce type data processing
- Experience with scripting and programming in the Python language
- Experience with common data science tools, such as pandas and NumPy
- Experience with data visualisation tools, such as Tableau, SeaBorn, ggplot, D3.js…
- Experience with SQL databases, such as RedShift, MySQL, PostgreSQL
- Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
