As Oura’s Revenue Accounting Manager, you will lead the revenue accounting team in a company experiencing rapid revenue growth. You will report to our US Controller. A successful candidate will be responsible for analyzing customer contracts and agreements, applying IFRS 15 & ASC 606 to document and propose revenue recognition treatment, and own all revenue recognition schedules. This individual will have the opportunity to be a key player in shaping processes and controls. Candidates are expected to have a high aptitude and enthusiasm for conducting financial analysis; have demonstrated problem solving skills; and the ability to thrive in fast paced environments and work independently.
Requirements
What you will do:
- Be a key point person for providing business value added insights and a thought partner to help scale the revenue operations.
- Review contracts and partnership agreements to determine proper revenue recognition and invoicing.
- Lead operational improvement initiatives to further streamline revenue and trade spend tasks and shorten the revenue close calendar.
- Review revenue contracts and document revenue recognition treatment and issues in accordance with IFRS 15 and ASC 606, and internal revenue policies.
- Prepare technical memos for revenue, accounts receivable, bad debt, reserves, etc, and serve as subject matter expert in these areas.
- Manage month-end accounting close process including but not limited to: Journal entries for revenue, deferred revenue, accounts receivable, and related accounts on a monthly basis, among others.
- Develop reconciliation procedures, reports and reconciliation schedules for customer aging, trial balance, and deferred/recognized revenue.
- Manage the team in timely preparation and maintenance of revenue records, monthly close activities and variance analysis. You are able to be hands on, reviewing journal entries and helping in preparation of month-end revenue related reconciliations.
- Perform thorough reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP and appropriate documentation for external reporting and audit requirements.
- Participate in developing and maintaining strong internal controls, ensuring quality controls over revenue transactions and reporting.
- Work with the FP&A team to provide revenue assurance in the pricing models and new product introductions.
- Support U.S. and global controllers with hardware and software sales metrics and analyses.
- Support audit deliverables and help coordinate with auditors during the year-end audit.
- Develop the Revenue Accounting team, and support their growth and professional development.
- Prepare ad hoc revenue analysis as requested.
We would love to have you on our team, if you have:
- Undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or economics
- Experience with Big 4 accounting firms and CPA preferred
- 6+ years of revenue accounting experience, preferably in the consumer electronics, software and/or consumer health and wellness industries
- Must have a strong understanding and application of US GAAP, with a specialization of knowledge surrounding ASC 606 Revenue and ability to perform in depth research on complex technical accounting matters and effectively summarize conclusions.
- Experience partnering with cross-organizational teams and developing cross-functional workstreams
- Demonstrated success in prior roles through promotion and/or increased scope of responsibilities
- Proven ability to succeed in a fast paced and constantly changing environment
- Ability to recognize problems, gather data, draw valid conclusions, and effectively present information to managers, peers, and customers
- Strong understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
- Ability to organize and prioritize tasks effectively in order to meet tight deadlines, working independently and under a multi-faceted team model
- Ability to recognize problems, gather data, draw valid conclusions, and effectively present information across a wide level of audience within the company.
- Strong people management and mentoring skills
- Experience with Netsuite or other large financial systems
- Experience with ecommerce, hardware and software business models a plus
