Although 80% of cardiovascular diseases including stroke are preventable, heart diseases are the #1 cause of death in women today. Shockingly enough, however, around 50% of women, who have had a heart attack, get misdiagnosed with stress or anxiety. “We are a half-century behind in our knowledge about optimal screening, diagnosis, and treatment of heart disease in women. Every day, women pay the price”, says Dr. Noel Bairey Merz, Director of Barbara Streisand Women’s Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai Heart Institute in Los Angeles.
Swiss startup CorDiFio is now working on a communication and early diagnostics AI-powered platform to empower both women and doctors in reaching the right disease diagnosis in a timely manner. The app educates women about gender-specific heart symptoms, which are different from men’s, gives insights into heart health and risks based on custom assessments and family history and helps minimize the risk of misdiagnosis by engaging medical professionals.
The startup is currently recruiting beta testers.
